Nguyễn Thị Phương Trâm | The heart is made of flesh (157)

it bleeds poisonous lead
through your veins the exhaust fuel your shit.

By Nguyễn Thị Phương Trâm

I have grown old
surrounded by digital souls
trapped in catacombs of human desire
not once on fire.
Trapped inside a cage of shallow deeds
“Me me me, me!”.
But you see.
The heart is made of flesh
it bleeds poisonous lead
through your veins the exhaust fuel your shit.
When was the last time
you opened a book
read anything other than
the deception
in your mind.

There's magic in translating a body of work from one language to another.

Soldier poetry. My father never spoke of war. They saw WW2 and the Korean war. War is a secret burden some men must carry. You are welcome. More people need to read these words. So many lessons were shared.
