By Nguyễn Thị Phương Trâm

I walked with thee on hill tops
Grass soft wet with dew
The homeless man asleep
Whispers in shadows just us few

I walked with three down laneways
Glimmering in yellow lights
The dogs’ bark jittery
Eyes glowing in the night

I walked with thee in darkness
Cooled by Autumn’s air
Warmed by thy company
The city far glowing fair…
