People in Vietnam
have spent three billion dollars
to buy houses in the US
(no fake news but official State media)
How many more billions
have they spent purchasing land
houses
in Australia, Japan, Singapore
and Canada … ?
The war ended
more than 40 years ago
the losers have almost all but left
(HO, ODP, set out to sea, whatever the risks)
they had their reasons, needless to say
but surprisingly
the winners
are also planning on leaving …
Do as one wishes
(but with the blood of every Vietnamese citizen
there’s always love for the homeland
so only God knows why they left)
Do as one wishes
but as for me
I am neither the winner
nor the loser
but the Sufferer
So I stay behind
laugh
or cry
with my beloved motherland …

Ai cũng yêu quê hương đất nước
Họ ra đi vì lẽ gì chỉ có Trời mới biết!)

Thôi thì mình
Không phải phe thắng trận
Không phải phe thua trận
Mà chỉ là phe Chịu Trận
Ở lại
cùng vui
cùng buồn
với đất mẹ quê cha …
