Lê Vĩnh Tài | no. 3:5 – He was blocked

Lê Vĩnh Tài, the Vietnamese poet and translator born 1966 in Buon Ma Thuot, Daklak, Vietnam. The retired doctor is still a resident of the Western Highlands, a businessman in Buon Ma Thuot.

Nguyễn Thị Phương Trâm, the poet and translator, born 1971 in Phu Nhuan, Saigon, Vietnam. The pharmacist currently lives and works in Western Sydney, Australia.

He was blocked

his computer hit a firewall

his Mother cried

.

he only has a pen

and a box of coloured pencils

to note and draw the wall

the fencing

from the foot

to the top of a hill

.

vaguely a brown horse

his horse oddly still

neck stretching 

searching

.

they were also searching

what were they looking for was different

to him

.

what were they looking for?

.

over on the other side

his Mother was still there

the person who will help him across the wall

like when he was learning how to walk

his anxious Mother was hurt 

each time he falls

Anh đã bị chặn

máy tính của anh vấp phải một hàng rào

Mẹ khóc

anh chỉ có cây bút

và một hộp màu

để viết và vẽ về hàng rào

đang vây

từ chân đồi

lên đến đỉnh

môt bóng ngựa màu nâu

của anh không di chuyển

nhưng nó đang nghểnh cổ lên

tìm kiếm

.

và họ cũng tìm kiếm

nhưng tìm kiếm những cái khác

anh

.

họ đang tìm kiếm những gì?

ở phía bên kia

vẫn là Mẹ

người sẽ dắt anh leo qua khỏi hàng rào

như ngày xưa tập đi

Mẹ xuýt xoa

khi anh ngã
