By Lê Vĩnh Tài, translated by Nguyễn Thị Phương Trâm

Doesn’t matter who reads the poem

when it’s good, the poetry is full of suspicion

when it’s bad, poetry is the result of division

.

but poetry

never spills blood

with whomever

.

tired

poetry desires

even the allure of the enemy

_____

Bất kỳ ai khi đọc một bài thơ

khi hay, thơ chìm vào nghi ngờ

và khi dở, thơ chìm vào tranh cãi

.

nhưng thơ

không bao giờ đổ máu

khi gặp ai

thơ buồn ngủ

và quyến rũ

cả kẻ thù

By Nguyễn Thị Phương Trâm

There's magic in translating a body of work from one language to another.
