The constitution

.

poetry remembering the notes composed

without lighting another firecracker for Tet

again and again it’s about the Tet offensive

.

the ban was etched across the sky

without a squiggly line of firework left

we’re all stunned, laughing awkwardly

in a warm and sound Tet

.

yawning

greetings

_____

Hiến Pháp

.

thơ nhớ tờ giấy nháp

làm thơ không còn đốt pháo mừng năm mới

mãi mãi không còn lo Mậu Thân

hãy vẽ lệnh cấm lên bầu trời

cũng không còn pháo hoa nguệch ngoạc

vì mọi người đã nghệch mặt cười

lúc giao thừa ấm áp

và chỉ cần ngáp

để chào nhau

By Nguyễn Thị Phương Trâm
