Lê Vĩnh Tài | no. 16:29 – you could take in her breath as she screams

Lê Vĩnh Tài, the Vietnamese poet and translator born 1966 in Buon Ma Thuot, Daklak, Vietnam. The retired doctor is still a resident of the Western Highlands, a businessman in Buon Ma Thuot.

Nguyễn Thị Phương Trâm, the poet and translator, born 1971 in Phu Nhuan, Saigon, Vietnam. The pharmacist currently lives and works in Western Sydney, Australia.

you could take in her breath

as she screams

the imprints of her tongue on your skin

you believe you could

contain

douse 

her fire

.

each time she 

ravage you

amorously from the back door

like

a magazine of bullets

bạn sẽ hít lấy hơi thở của nàng

khi nàng hét lên

nàng để lại vết lưỡi trên làn da của bạn

bạn tin rằng bạn có thể

chứa đựng

chế ngự

làm dịu

nàng…

mỗi khi nàng tấn công

bạn

lãng mạn từ cửa sau

như

một băng đạn…
