Lê Vĩnh Tài, the Vietnamese poet and translator, born 1966 in Buon Ma Thuot, Daklak, Vietnam. The retired doctor is still a resident of the Western Highlands, a businessman in Buon Ma Thuot.

Nguyễn Thị Phương Trâm, the poet and translator, born 1971 in Phu Nhuan, Saigon, Vietnam. The pharmacist currently lives and works in Western Sydney, Australia.

I want to write a poem

because the poem will

the poem

will throw itself upon the pages

with the vigour of a child learning how to talk

.

the lyrics you’ve forgotten

.

I want to turn us into a poem.

bởi vì bài thơ sẽ

bởi vì bài thơ là

bài thơ

nó ném mình lên trang giấy

với tất cả sự dữ dội của một đứa trẻ đang tập nói

.

bài thơ

là bài hát mà bạn quên lời

.

tôi muốn mình trở thành một bài thơ…
