Anna Akhmatova (1889-1966), born Anna Andreyevna Gorenko, one of the most prominent Russian poet of the 20th century. She was short listed for the Nobel Prize in 1965 and received second-most nominations for the award the following year.

Lê Vĩnh Tài, the Vietnamese poet and translator born 1966 in Buon Ma Thuot, Daklak, Vietnam. The retired doctor is still a resident of the Western Highlands, a businessman in Buon Ma Thuot.

Trước khi không gửi một bài thơ

gió giật mạnh bên bờ biển
một ngôi nhà mà chúng ta không còn ở nữa
cái bóng của một cây thông bá hương
ấp ủ bên ngoài cái cửa sổ
không còn mở được
có lẽ phải có ai đó trên thế giới
để ta gửi những dòng này
a, hay ta chỉ cần để đôi môi mỉm cười cay đắng
và một cơn lốc
thốc vào trái tim rùng mình thêm lần nữa

Before Not Sending a Poem

Seaside gusts of wind,
And a house in which we don’t live,
And the shadow of a cherished cedar
In front of a forbidden window …
Perhaps there is someone in this world
To whom I could send all these lines. Well then!
Let the lips smile bitterly
And a tremor touch the heart again.
